Wet Basement Solutions: WaterGuard, CleanSpace, and TripleSafe
Challenge
James's home in Springfield, Missouri has many waterproofing problems. The basement is constantly filling up with water, which isn't fun for anyone. Anytime it rains, James even has to sweep the water over to the sump pump and has to use a bucket to bail water out of the basement. No one should have to deal with this every time it rains.
One of our team members went out to James's house to give it a look. It turns out, hydrostatic pressure from behind the basement wall was forcing the water through the cold joint, through cracks in the wall, and through cracks in the slab floor. Another aspect of this house that could make this project more challenging than others is that it was built in the 1900s with field rock foundation walls.
James decided to choose Thrasher to help him with his water problem because of our ability to permanently solve this issue at a reasonable price.
Solution
We installed a multitude of systems in James's basement, starting with WaterGuard. WaterGuard is drainage piping that is installed inside the basement and collects water coming through the wall and floor before it reaches the basement floor. Next, our crew installed full-height CleanSpace on the walls where the seepage was occurring. CleanSpace is a waterproof vapor barrier that can over uneven surfaces and prevent humidity from coming in through the basement walls. CleanSpace and WaterGuard are typically used together since CleanSpace diverts water to the WaterGuard system.
The third and last "cog" in this system is our TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe is an extremely reliable pumping system that is sure to keep your basement dry. We even added a battery backup to the sump pump so that even when the electricity goes out the basement will still stay dry.
Now James's basement is dry and he'll no longer have to sweep water into his sump pump. If you have a wet basement, click here to get a free estimate!
