Basement Waterproofing & Drainage Photo Album: Mold Prevention in Bellevue, NE
These homeowners had a basement full of insulation that they did not want to take out, but they knew the had a water issue. Wes Marshall, System Design Special went out to meet them after they gave us a call to help. Wes got the okay to take off some of the insulation, and found a wall full of mold. He proposed we use our CleanSpace to help prevent any more mold to grow on the wall. CleanSpace is our waterproof, mold prevention, tarp like material product. It is very study, so it is very hard to tear. It is used as a barrier between the wall and the basement, so water can trickle down into the waterproofing system. Check out how they went from a moldy wall, to a waterproof wall!
Moldy Insulation
These homeowners had this insulation installed, in hopes of keeping the home at the correct temperature. This insulation is not waterproof though, so mold has started to form on the backside of it.
Mold Growing on Wall Behind Insulation
After the insulation was taken down, they found a wall full of mold. The insulation was collecting all the water, and because it was not waterproof, it caused mold to grow.
CleanSpace Installed
A nice after picture of the CleanSpace installed. Water may come through the wall as it has, but the CleanSpace stops it from coming through further. It trickles down the tarp and into the waterproofing system and out of the home. Great thing about CleanSpace is that it is waterproof, so the water will not sit in place for a long time, giving a place for mold to grow.
Waterproofing System Installed
These homeownes already had part of our waterproofing system. This included the sump pump, and WaterGuard. WaterGuard you can not see, as it is around the perimeter under the layer of concrete. The CleanSpace was added later, as they were still getting water into their home. The water can no trickle down the CleanSpace, into the WaterGuard and WaterGuard will flow it into the sump pump and out of the home at a safe distance!
