Concrete Crack Caulking Solution
Cracked concrete is more than just an eyesore that can lower the value of your home. These cracks provide moisture a way to seep beneath your driveway, sidewalk or patio, which can cause the underlying soil to soften or even wash away completely. That in turn can cause the concrete slab to crack further as it sinks into the void left by the washed-away soil. This is why proper concrete crack caulking is so important.
Repairing and sealing concrete cracks with caulking not only improves the curb appeal, but also protects your driveway or walkway from soil erosion, prolonging the need for replacement or repairs down the road. At Thrasher Foundation Repair, we use NexusPro™, a silicone-based crack and joint sealer developed by our sister company Supportworks (opens in a new window) and engineered to stand up to harsh weather conditions.
When we install NexusPro, we prepare and clean the concrete cracks, insert the product and then finish it off with native sand to give the whole surface a clean, finished look. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. Plus, the drying time is a fraction of that needed for other urethane-based caulking products.

We use NexusPro silicone-based sealant to fill and seal cracks and control joints after lifting and leveling the concrete steps with PolyLevel. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. Plus, the drying time is a fraction of that needed for other urethane-based caulking products, and it's been proven to last more than twice as long.

In short, it depends. While small cracks in your concrete can likely be patched with a sidewalk crack filler from your local big box store, this won't fix the underlying settlement problem and more cracks can form in your sidewalk. Do-it-yourself repairs might be less expensive, but they are messy, require special tools and equipment, and it can be as long as 30 days before you're able to apply significant weight to it again (like your car, for example).

NexusPro is often installed as part of our comprehensive concrete protection system, which comes with a 5-year warranty and has been proven to last over 20 years.
