Concrete Joint Caulking Solution

The key to protecting your concrete driveway, sidewalk or patio for the long term is to seal it from the elements. Sealing your concrete joints with caulking may seem like a no-brainer, but many homeowners forget this simple step only to regret it years later when it becomes necessary to replace or resurface their driveway.

At Thrasher, we use NexusPro(TM), a silicone-based crack and joint sealant caulk developed by our sister company Supportworks. NexusPro offers a long-lasting and durable solution that will stand up to harsh weather conditions and keep moisture from seeping beneath your concrete, where it can cause further problems. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro concrete joint caulk resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. Plus, the drying time is a fraction of that needed for other urethane-based caulking products.

NexusPro is a great solution for protecting new concrete by sealing control joints and expansion joints. And it can also repair and protect old concrete as part of a comprehensive concrete protection system. First, your concrete is lifted and leveled using PolyLevel(R) polyurethane foam. Then, your cracked concrete and control joints are filled and sealed using NexusPro(TM) joint sealant. Finally, the whole surface is protected from the elements with a coat of SealantPro(TM) concrete sealant, which permanently bonds to your concrete. When you lift, level and protect your home's concrete, you can rest assured it will keep looking and working great well into the future -- plus you'll sleep better knowing you've got a five-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Concrete expansion joints are necessary to allow the concrete slabs that make up your driveway to shift and move inward over time. This prevents cracking, buckling and heaving to prolong the life of your driveway.

  • When concrete expansion joints aren't sealed properly, moisture can seep beneath your driveway, which can cause the underlying soil to soften or even wash away completely. That in turn can cause the concrete slab to crack further as it sinks into the void left by the washed-away soil. This is why proper concrete joint caulking is so important.

  • We use NexusPro silicone-based sealant to seal control joints, often after lifting and leveling the concrete with PolyLevel. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. Plus, the drying time is a fraction of that needed for other urethane-based caulking products, and it's been proven to last more than twice as long.

  • Most urethane caulking products take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours to cure. NexusPro silicone-based sealant has a tack-free time of four hours, and won't crack, bubble or dry out over time.

  • When we install NexusPro, we prepare and clean the concrete joints, insert the product and then finish it off with native sand to give the whole surface a clean, finished look. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. • You can buy polyurethane caulk at your local big-box DIY store, so you might be tempted to caulk your concrete expansion joint yourself. But polyurethane caulks can bubble, dry out and crack when exposed to the sun and elements over time. At Thrasher, we use a silicone-based crack and joint sealer developed by our sister company, Supportworks. It's called NexusPro, and it offers a long-lasting and durable solution that will keep moisture from seeping beneath your concrete, where it can cause further problems. When we install NexusPro, we prepare and clean the concrete joints, insert the product and then finish it off with native sand to give the whole surface a clean, finished look. That's something you won't get from the big-box store.
