Job Stories From Pottawattamie County, IA
New Gutters Installed in Council Bluffs, IA

Homeowners Nicole and Ian G. are planning on staying in their home long term and are looking to do some projects around the home to keep it in the best shape possible. Their home was lacking gutters and so they decided to call Thrasher to see what we could do about gutter installation.

The crew was able to see that the lack of gutters on one side of the home was letting water pool next to the foundation. We installed Gutter Shutter around the entire home, so they would have clog-free gutters.

Waterproofing a Window in Underwood, IA

Longtime homeowners in Underwood, IA have been struggling with water coming in through a leaky window. They have tried many different solutions, but nothing seems to work long term. The couple is getting ready to retire and would like to have a solution in place that works. They decided to call Thasher after hearing good things and getting recommendations.

The crew went out to their home and was able to identify that water was coming in through the cold joint on the wall and building up through the window seal and then down the wall. We fixed this by installing a polywell on the outside of the house that connects to a well duct into WaterGuard, which then will go into the sump pump.

Titled Walkway Level in Council Bluffs, IA

A homeowner in Council Bluffs, IA was worried about his concrete. He noticed that his walkway was sloping toward his house foundation. Concerned this would cause foundation problems, he gave us a call.

Upon inspection the Thrasher crew was able to identify the entire walkway was slopping toward the foundation. We were able to tilt the entire walkway away from the foundation with PolyLevel. The concrete was lifted 2-3 inches.

Gutter Shutter Protects Porch on barn in Council Bluffs Iowa.

Wayne and Kathy have a barn on their property with older trough style gutters, and they are concerned about water getting into the barn.  They use the barn to store their "toys" and also have a bedroom/bathroom in there that their granddaughter is moving into and living in while attending Iowa Western. The old gutters that they had on the barn were corroded and sagging.  They could only do one downspout for the entire run because otherwise they would be sending water onto the driveway area that has poor drainage and turns into an ice rink in the wintertime.  When the gutters sagged, they would overflow and drip on the patio/entrance area.

We used Gutter Shutter to direct the water to the back of the barn and make sure they stayed pitched correctly. They had an interesting situation that a normal K-style gutter wouldn't solve.  Gutter shutter was the right solution for them because it's stronger and won't clog up and won't pull away.  We can get the water where they need it without them having any ice or dripping problems in the future.

He said that the project went well. The crew came out on time, told the customer what they were going to do, cleaned up after themselves (he mentioned that he saw an installer drop a sheet metal screw and figured it would end up in his tire, but then he saw him pick it up and was impressed that they picked up such a tiny screw).  He also said that they were easy to talk to.  Andrew, the team lead explained everything really well.  What they did, and what the customer could expect.  Kathy also really liked the crew.  Wayne said that Andrew was "the best" and "fabulous" and "I'd want him on any of my projects".

Foundation Repair in Council Bluffs, IA

This homeowner has a berm style home in the outskirts of Council Bluffs. She had been seeing issues getting progressively worse over the years and knew she needed someone out. She knew the Thrasher name from advertisements over the years, as well as recommendations from family and friends, so she gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Tim Wurgler, came out to meet her. After doing the inspection, Tim determined that the bowing in her walls were from wet clay soil expansion. She was having cracks in her bedroom wall and bathroom. Tim proposed we use our wall anchors to stop the wall from bowing in anymore. This area of her home was finished, so wall anchors were the best option to not disturb the finished areas. Wall anchors are comprised of plates on the walls and rods going through the plate, wall, and into the ground on the other side. Overtime, it is possible to tighten the rods to straighten the wall back out. This homeowner knew she could not prolong putting this project off any longer, so we sent out of installation team! She was very pleased with the outcome. There is no doubt she is feeling more at peace in her own space now!

Waterproofing in Council Bluffs

This homeowner had started living on their own for the first time in a while, and was experiencing some water coming into the basement. She had heard some really good things about Thrasher, so she looked up reviews and gave us a call. System Design Specialist Nico Lemmers, came out to meet with them. Nico did a survey of the area and saw that the water was coming in through the cracks in her foundation wall. Together, the homeowner and Nico decided on a solution. They decided the best solution would be installing Cleanspace and WaterGuard that is linked to the TripleSafe Sump Pump. Cleanspace is our vapor barrier that keeps out moisture and lets water collect and filter into the WaterGuard. WaterGuard is our drainage system that collects water from the Cleanspace and from the cold joint. It then flows the water into the sump pump and the sump pump discharges the water at a safe distance from the house. The homeowner loved this solution and there is no doubt there is no more need to worry about water intruding the basement!

Basement Waterproofing in Council Bluffs, IA

Robin had gotten water in her basement and did not want to deal with it anymore. Her husband had been the one to take care of things and once he passed away, she wanted to have a permanent solution. After doing some research and asking around, she knew that Thrasher was the best option to help her. System Design Specialist, Tony Taylor, came out to help him. Tony did his inspection and found water was coming through the cold joints and running across the basement floor. To help combat this, we installed WaterGuard and TrenchBrain in the basement to collect the water coming up through the cold joint. The WaterGuard also assists with getting the water to the sump pump, which is discharge the water at a safe distance. Robin was very happy with this solution, and we know she has peace of mind for her home.

Foundation Support in Overland Park, KS

This homeowner has been experiencing sagging floors and cracks in their dry wall. They want to maintain the property value and not have major issues in the future. He knew of Thrasher and our reputation, so he gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Allie Packard, came out to meet with them. Allie did her inspection and found the foundation was settling from the beams in the basement, which was causing the floor to sag. Allie went back to the homeowner to give him the explanation of what the issue was and why it was happening. He really appreciated the thoroughness of the inspection. Allie then went through the solution that would be best to solve the issue and what was best for the homeowner. He loved this solution, so we installed two supplemental beams and four smart jacks in order to raise the floor back into place. There is no doubt the homeowner has peace of mind for the foundation of his home.

Waterproofing in Neola, IA

Vicki was experiencing water getting into her basement constantly. She knew of Thrasher from past projects at other homes, so she gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Flavio Gonzalez, came out to meet with Vicki. Flavio did his inspection and found the there was a high water table around the home, making it easy for any rain water to get into the basement. To help combat this issue, we installed a full perimeter WaterGuard and a TripleSafe sump pump. WaterGuard is installed into the floor of the basement. It collects any water that comes in through the cold joint and sends it to the sump pump. The sump pump will then discharge it out of the home at a safe distance. Vicki loved this work saying she was glad it was a one and done type fix. There is no doubt she has peace of mind of her home.

Porch Pillar Repair in Springfield, MO

Ann and Howard are living in their forever home and have been noticing that below the pillars that support their back deck, the concrete was cracking and starting to sink. They wanted to make sure their porch wasn't going to fall down, but also wanted to have a neat appearance. The couple did their research and liked our before and after photos we had. Aesthetic was a big importance for them, so they gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Austin Harris, came out to meet with them. Austin did his inspection and found the root of the problem. The problem was the pillars that support the deck put a massive strain on the concrete below. Being that the concrete ended at those pillars, water was allowed to stack up next to it and wash away the supporting soils underneath. The concrete then falls into that void and creates cracks. To permanently fix this issue, we used PolyLevel under the slab to bring it back up to its original position. We use this foam solution because it is lightweight, it compacts the soil underneath, and it is hydrophobic. To seal the joints and cracks, we used NexusPro. This is also waterproof, to prevent water from getting under the slabs. There is no doubt they have peace of mind and enjoy their aesthetic look they wanted.
