Waterproofing Basement in Emporia, KS
Marcy just purchased her home and wanted to use her basement for storage without worrying about mold, mildew, or water damage. But she noticed water would leak into the basement frequently when it rained. Marcy also runs a daycare from home and wants to ensure her home is as safe as possible for the little kiddos.
System Design Specialist, Nate Franson, got on-site to check out where the water was coming from. He found water would leak in multiple locations from the cold foundation joint, especially during heavy rains. It seemed the previous owners attempted to address wall support failure with weep holes along the bottom of the foundation wall, which only added to the water problem. On top of that, some of the foundation walls had stress cracks from the pressure, which would also leak at times.
To keep the water out, we planned to install an entire perimeter of WaterGuard, full-height CleanSpace, and a lateral line. We tied into her existing sump and went around her current wall support with extended bottom brackets.
The result was great, and now Marcy won't have to deal with water in her basement anymore.
Foundation Repair in Wichita, KS
Nick noticed a large crack above the door of his mother's house. He called Thrasher to maintain value and make sure his mom was safe in her home. Jon Graves went out to the home to find out what was happening. He found the garage had settled to the outside corner, causing a large crack above the door to open up. To fix this, we installed push piers. But then things got interesting.
When we did the lift, the result was excellent. The crack closed up, and everything looked good. However, the crew left, and when they came back the following day to finish up, they noticed a new crack behind the old crack had opened in a straight line down the mortar joint. This is something that can happen when lifting a home, especially brick. It doesn't happen often, but we always mention to the customer the possibility. Once we noticed the new crack, we instantly checked to ensure there was no settlement, and luckily, we found none. We then sealed the crack and blended the mortar to be less visible. Everything was good as new again!
Nick and his mom were excited that the crack had closed up. They were, at first, concerned about the new crack, but they felt more at ease that we immediately addressed it and fixed the issue. Their garage is stabilized and will not be moving anymore.
Sagging Floors in McPherson, KS
Virginia initially reached out to us to pour new concrete for her back patio. After explaining that it's not a service we provide, it opened up a conversation. She asked, "What else do you do?" After listing our services, she figured we could still help her, just in another area. Her floors were sagging and dipping in the back of the house, near the kitchen. She was worried that if she were ever to rent it out or try to sell, that'd be an issue.
Sheldon Sharp, System Design Specialist at Thrasher, went out to her home to find the root of the problem. When he went into the crawl space, he found the cement blocks holding up her house had settled and were falling over. To prevent further damage to her home, we installed smart jacks and new i-beams to support the floors and lift them to give the floor a sturdy feel.
Virginia loved how the floors felt and was so happy we did a thorough inspection. We were happy to help her with something she didn't realize was an issue when she initially called!
Sinking Flagstone Concrete Repair Erie, CO.
Bill was concerned with his flagstone patio sinking. He was worried that water would pool up and freeze during the winter, which could cause foundation problems once melted. The thick concrete slab was beginning to sink due to loose backfill soil and not having the joint between the home and the slab sealed. This caused water to pool and soften the soil around the concrete, ultimately causing the sinking.
For this project, we were able to lift the slab 3" using PolyLevel as well as sealing the joints with NexusPro. This will prevent future issues of water from getting under the flagstone patio. Bill was ecstatic with the results and believed the crew exceeded his expectations and the slab is now perfect!
Sinking Pool Slabs in Peck, KS
Michelle and James were concerned with the concrete around their pool area. The shallow end is where the little kids played, and the settling concrete slabs were causing a major tripping hazard. They did not want anyone to get hurt! Another primary concern was the concrete settling even more, which could cause issues to their existing underground pool.
They chose Thrasher because they knew the capabilities of the team. To resolve Michelle and James' problem, we utilized PolyLevel foam, NexusPro joint, and crack sealer. We injected foam under the concrete to lift and stabilize it. The NexusPro sealed all the joints and cracks to create a tight surface to ensure water does not get below the concrete.
Michelle and James can now enjoy a worry-free summer next to their pool!
